The challenge

With its products sold in over 60,000 retail stores across 45 countries, SodaStream is one of the largest beverage companies in the world.

As a global business, SodaStream recognised it needed an ecommerce platform that could support sites across a range of geographies, but its existing systems were disparate and did not encourage brand consistency across all its markets. Introducing a single ecommerce platform to support multiple regions would be a significant step change for the brand which aimed to significantly increase sales through the site.

As part of its wider multi-channel strategy, SodaStream also needed a site that would complement its products in store, provide a better purchase journey for visitors, and cater for a rapidly increasing mobile audience.

What we did

To free SodaStream from the constraints of its incumbent platforms, we began a programme of work, starting with the delivery of a newly-designed site on the Magento Enterprise platform for the UK market. The single platform would support SodaStream's ecommerce operations in multiple markets ensuring consistency and scalability across Europe.

As part of the project, we integrated Magento with SodaStream’s ERP, Oracle, to provide new interface benefits and make it more user-friendly, before turning our attention to the site’s frontend design.

'It was a tight brief', says Giles Airey, associate creative director and senior UX strategist. 'Designing a responsive site that would be practical, intuitive to use and in keeping with SodaStream’s brand guidelines was a challenge, but the final site is crisp, clear and easy for users to navigate'.

The results

As well as end users, it was important for SodaStream’s marketing and customer services teams to be able to navigate the backend of the system with ease. The new platform enables regional teams to update content directly including local promotions.

Additional integration with Bronto’s email system also means the marketing teams have even greater control over their communications with customers. Bronto integration enables increased automation, customer segmentation, and the ability to deliver targeted campaigns to their contacts based on Magento-sourced data, which includes cart abandonment and customer loyalty. All of which will ultimately improve SodaStream's online revenue.

'The Inviqa project team spent the time to truly understand our brand and business. They understood our requirements and always took the time to fully explain things to us. The team’s knowledge, professionalism and energy made it a pleasure to work with them'.
